The Main Course
The HYTE program, funded by the BC Scholarship Society and held at Lions Gate Community Centre,
offers
high school students an immersive experience in technology and entrepreneurship through three
phases:
Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Competition. Students gain hands-on STEM knowledge, develop
business
acumen, and apply their skills in a final competition where they can win a $1,000 scholarship by
pitching their startup ideas in a "Dragon's Den" style event.
This program not only equips students with crucial tech entrepreneurial skills but also enhances
their
college applications by demonstrating leadership, initiative, and project completion—key traits
sought
by universities. Participants benefit from direct interaction with university professors and
industry
professionals, providing a unique, real-world perspective that prepares them for future challenges
in
the tech and business sectors.
